About the Role
The Driver Helper works alongside the Route Driver to collect waste and recyclable materials from residential and commercial customers. Key responsibilities include adhering to WM safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and all applicable laws, reporting unsafe conditions and service issues, and attending required training, briefings, and meetings. The role involves loading and emptying containers manually or mechanically, operating hoisting devices to lift bins, assisting the driver with backing maneuvers, and communicating customer requests or service interruptions to management or dispatch. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, and all local, state, and federal regulations. • Report unsafe situations, incidents, accidents, and property damage immediately. • Attend all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings. • Load and empty residential and commercial containers manually or mechanically. • Operate hoisting device to lift and empty bins into the truck hopper. • Assist the driver with backing maneuvers while on route. • Notify management of service interruptions such as closed streets or heavy receptacles. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Perform duties as scheduled and assist other drivers to meet customer needs.

Qualifications require no specific education or prior experience, a minimum age of 18, and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
