About the Role
In this role you will own assigned control system functions and interfaces, provide technical guidance to a small team, ensure outcomes meet standards and quality, and collaborate with the global engineering community for knowledge exchange. You will support full lifecycle development and mentor junior engineers on processes, tools, and solutions. Responsibilities include developing and verifying electrical, electronics and mechatronics control system requirements for safety-critical applications, preparing and reviewing technical documentation, providing engineering and process guidance, delivering training, and communicating complex technical ideas concisely. You will work with cross-functional teams to uphold the highest standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork while solving complex problems using model-based tools. • Develop and verify safety-critical electrical, electronics, and mechatronics control system requirements per ARP4754A and DO-178C. • Lead a small engineering team, providing technical guidance and ensuring quality deliverables. • Create and review engineering documentation, process guidance, and training materials. • Resolve complex technical problems using model-based analysis tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo Systems Modeler). • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to establish high technical standards.

What You Bring
The position entails up to 20% travel between Rolls-Royce sites and up to 10% other travel. It qualifies for a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a secure high-speed internet connection and an appropriate workspace that meets information-security requirements; employees are expected to be onsite an average of three days per week. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering (or an advanced degree) with at least two years of product development experience and be U.S. citizens. Preferred experience includes five or more years in product development, military airborne system qualification, FAA certification, gas-turbine or electrical control system expertise, agile development, and proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo Systems Modeler or similar SysML tools. • Minimum qualifications: B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years product development experience (or higher degree); U.S. citizenship required. • Preferred qualifications: 5+ years product development, military airborne system qualification, FAA certification, gas-turbine or electrical control system experience, agile development, control system design tools, SysML modeling. • Travel up to 20% between Rolls-Royce sites and up to 10% elsewhere. • Hybrid work: minimum three days per week onsite, secure high-speed internet required.
