About the Role
The Quality Control Welding Inspector ensures that products and welds meet quality standards, legislation, and customer specifications. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to the organization’s quality assurance procedures to prevent defective materials from entering the supply chain. The inspector conducts daily inspections of in‑process units and paperwork, performs sub‑assembly and final unit inspections, reviews documentation, reports safety concerns, assists in training, verifies drawings, manages engineering changes, records discrepancies, and organizes inspection records, all while complying with safety programs and occupational health regulations. Work is performed in a commercial/industrial environment with natural hazards, requiring the use of protective equipment, long periods of standing, and occasional overtime. All activities must follow the company’s safety policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Communication is internal with the assigned work team, Quality Supervisor, Engineering, and Production teams. Johnson Controls provides reasonable accommodation for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process, handling related information confidentially. • Inspect in‑process units daily to verify sealing, missing parts, and overall quality. • Review and report paperwork deficiencies for each unit. • Perform sub‑assembly inspections (motor, coil, evaporator, furnace, paint) and final unit inspections. • Compile inspection documents and create unit packages. • Report safety concerns to the Safety Coach or Safety Coordinator. • Mentor other inspectors and production staff on inspection procedures. • Verify drawings and marking/breaking work; assist with engineering change documentation. • Record all discrepancies using appropriate inspection forms from start to finish. • Organize inspection paperwork and digital photos. • Conduct weld inspections on carbon steel and aluminum to meet code requirements. • Follow Silent‑Aire safety program and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations. • Adhere to safety policies, wear protective equipment, and stand for extended periods; overtime may be required.

What You Bring
The position requires Level 1 CSA 178.2 and CSA W59/W47 endorsements, 1–3 years of quality‑control experience in a structured program, and a background in carpentry, electrical, or sheet‑metal work is advantageous. Candidates must also demonstrate strong technical aptitude, the ability to read shop drawings, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and possess a self‑directed, detail‑oriented, team‑focused work ethic. • Hold Level 1 CSA 178.2 and CSA W59/W47 endorsements. • Possess 1–3 years of quality‑control experience in an organization with an established quality program. • Demonstrate ability to read shop drawings and work effectively in a manufacturing environment. • Be self‑directed, detail‑oriented, capable of multitasking with minimal supervision. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and exhibit a strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
