About the Role
The role involves generating CADD designs for various substation components, producing design deliverables such as reports, plans, specifications, and material lists, and ensuring quality meets industry standards for accuracy, constructability, and functionality. Key duties include collecting and analyzing site data, using 3D CADD software under minimal supervision, assisting with technical design tasks, verifying calculations and design changes, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and client standards. • Generate CADD designs for substation layouts, foundations, structures, and equipment arrangements. • Produce design phase deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, manuals, plans, models, specifications, and material lists. • Collect, compile, and analyze site data, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to support drafting. • Use 3D CADD software to create precise drawings and resolve design discrepancies in collaboration with engineers. • Perform technical design assistance, applying geometric dimensioning, tolerance, and quantity calculations. • Verify calculations, design changes, and contract specifications; flag construction or engineering issues. • Ensure plans comply with city, state, federal regulations, and client or utility design standards. • Prepare multiple design versions for engineer review and confirm material and procedural specifications. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and the engineer‑in‑charge throughout project phases. • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct, ethical standards, and safety policies; complete required training.

What You Bring
The position requires a high school diploma and at least five years of relevant design or drafting experience, strong knowledge of drafting principles, codes, and utility facilities, effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
