About the Role

Under the guidance of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician B performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment, including chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. What You Bring

The technician maintains a working knowledge and moderate skill proficiency in a range of vehicle systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis repair, refuse body and brake system service, engine overhaul, suspension, drivetrain and steering maintenance, HVAC servicing, line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, and safe road service to return equipment to operation efficiently. Diagnostic work is performed using electronic tools, and required company training programs are completed. Qualifications include a basic understanding of work‑order labor standards and at least one year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or imminent graduation from an accredited automotive program. Prior experience with Classes 1‑5 light/medium duty and heavy‑duty Class 7‑8 trucks, aircraft, or ships is preferred. ASE certifications (T1‑T8), a commercial driver’s license, and a valid driver’s license are advantageous but not mandatory. The technician must be able to conduct basic inspections of suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions with limited supervision.
