About the Role

This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the mechanical design in support of Data Center and other Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. The individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical engineers. The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish, coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will develop feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self‑motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. • Lead and coordinate the mechanical design team from schematic design through contract documents. • Organize meetings and reviews with governing agencies to ensure code compliance. • Manage workload and schedules to deliver design documents on time. • Conduct on‑site work sessions with project managers and multidisciplinary teams. • Review mechanical drawings for interdisciplinary conflicts. • Write and edit mechanical specifications and select equipment and systems. • Handle addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, updating project documents accordingly. • Provide construction contract administration and site oversight. • Perform QA/QC reviews of work produced by mechanical engineers and CAD technicians. • Mentor and train junior mechanical engineers. • Prepare feasibility reports, calculations, shop‑drawing reviews, and construction administration documentation.

What You Bring

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis; a minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings; Data Center/Mission Critical facilities design experience; experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings; Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license; experience in commercial or institutional facilities; computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software; previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm; an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
