About the Role
The Project Engineer interprets plans, implements quality plans, obtains permits, manages documentation, oversees submittals, coordinates closeout, mentors field engineers, and ensures safety and schedule compliance. • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft personnel. • Implement pre‑construction quality plans and oversee testing and inspection processes. • Obtain and maintain construction permits, managing fees and recurring expenses. • Develop and maintain material tracking, test and inspection logs, concrete placement records, and non‑conformance reports. • Manage contract documents and establish electronic handling procedures for RFIs and correspondence. • Set up and coordinate submittal registers, obtain approvals, prepare transmittals, and expedite submittals to meet schedule. • Incorporate processes for project closeout and update as‑built construction documents. • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers, recommending alternative work methods as needed. • Coordinate safety and compliance for the team, maintaining schedule timelines and ensuring completion.

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality. The role involves reviewing, analyzing, managing, and resolving field coordination issues with project teams. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in construction‑related engineering or management, at least three years of construction experience, strong detail orientation, knowledge of construction law, teamwork, communication, problem‑solving skills, a positive attitude, and a valid driver’s license. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. • Minimum three years of related construction experience with strong detail orientation. • Possess a basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. • Maintain a valid driver’s license.

Benefits
Base salary ranges from $93,400 to $126,100 (higher in select locations) with eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
