About the Role

As a Transportation Planner/Data Scientist you will support the FDOT Freight and Rail Office with the Rail Highway Crossings Inventory and the FDOT Transportation Data Analytics Office with the Roadway Characteristics Inventory, assist with the TDA Linear Referencing System, collaborate with developers, geospatial analysts, engineers, scientists, business analysts, and planners to gather, organize, quality‑control, manage, and maintain data products, and lead development projects that design solutions and develop database schemas and analysis methods for desktop, web, and mobile environments. • Support FDOT Freight and Rail Office with Rail Highway Crossings Inventory. • Support FDOT Transportation Data Analytics Office with Roadway Characteristics Inventory. • Assist with TDA Linear Referencing System. • Gather, organize, quality‑control, manage, and maintain data products with cross‑functional team. • Lead development projects, design solutions, and create database schemas and analysis methods for desktop, web, and mobile environments.

What You Bring

• Associate or bachelor's degree. • One year of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience. • Website development skills. • Programming skills. • GIS, statistical, and analytical expertise. • Degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience. • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented professional able to multitask. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook). • Proficiency with SQL, Power Query, and Pandas. • Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib. • Proficiency with Python and R. • Ability to handle confidential information. • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong mathematics and organizational abilities. • Flexibility to prioritize multiple tasks and managers in a fast‑paced environment.
