About the Role
In this position you will guide estimate development from conceptual through detailed stages, collaborate with trade partners and vendors, manage RFP documentation and schedules, and ensure accurate pricing and comprehensive project documentation. You will also support project teams through meetings, site investigations, permits, and mentoring of new estimators and engineers. • Participate in project pursuit kickoff and strategy meetings • Build project estimates – conceptual, budget, and detailed • Complete quantity take‑offs and material summations • Solicit trade partners and obtain bid estimates and time projections • Prepare and coordinate Request for Proposal documents and schedules • Scope all vendor and trade partner proposals effectively • Determine pricing options and select appropriate project price • Enter data into estimating software programs • Perform archive filing and gather historical cost data • Attend plan, estimate, project, customer, and site investigation meetings • Gather permit and regulatory information from government and private entities • Manage addendum logs and client documents • Solicit new bidders and collect necessary documentation for future projects • Provide direction, training, and mentoring to new estimators, engineers, and interns

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Estimator III to join its Energy Storage Group, focusing on electric vehicle and microgrid markets. The role provides leadership, coordination, and final preparation of project estimates while requiring strong communication, problem‑solving abilities, efficiency, and integrity. The ideal candidate holds an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in estimating, engineering, construction management, or has equivalent experience, and has at least five years of commercial, industrial, or MEP construction experience. Required skills include a valid driver’s license, electrical estimating expertise, strong attention to detail, solid mathematical ability, and familiarity with estimating software such as ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, and Bluebeam. • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in estimating, engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience • Minimum five years of commercial, industrial, or MEP construction operations experience • Current driver’s license • Experience with commercial, industrial, or MEP electrical estimating • Detail‑oriented with ability to handle multiple project tasks • Strong mathematical and analytical skills • Familiarity with estimating software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth • Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills

Benefits
Compensation includes a base pay range of $109,000 to $164,000, with higher rates for select locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
