Downer is seeking skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Technicians, or Fitters for a hybrid workshop‑and‑field role in Eastern Creek, NSW. The position blends hands‑on maintenance in a modern fleet with on‑site fault diagnosis, requiring flexibility to travel and to work alternating day and night shifts while thriving both independently and within a team. A strong focus on safety, quality, and problem‑solving is essential, and the role is full‑time permanent with overtime at penal rates. Ideal candidates hold a trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or Fitting, possess strong hydraulic and diagnostic skills, and have experience with mobile plant, trucks, or heavy equipment. Additional strengths include auto‑electrical knowledge, appropriate licences, the ability to travel as needed, and a proactive, safety‑conscious mindset. • Hands‑on work with a modern, well‑maintained fleet of trucks and plant • Strong safety‑first culture emphasizing Zero Harm • Diagnose and resolve breakdowns in the field • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, or Fitting (essential) • Strong hydraulic knowledge and diagnostic skills • Experience with mobile plant, trucks, and heavy equipment • Auto‑electrical experience (highly regarded) • Valid licences (HR and forklift desirable) • Proactive approach and commitment to safety
