About the Role

The Assistant Welder supports experienced Welder I and Welder II by preparing materials, operating equipment, and helping maintain a safe work environment throughout the welding process. The assistant works under the guidance of senior welders to ensure all welding activities comply with safety standards. Key responsibilities include cleaning, grinding, and scraping workpieces, setting up welding tools under supervision, handling and storing materials correctly, and operating both power and hand tools as directed. These tasks support the efficient completion of welding projects while upholding quality and cleanliness on the shop floor. • Assist Welder I and Welder II with various welding tasks. • Prepare workpieces by cleaning, grinding, and scraping. • Set up welding equipment and tools under supervision. • Properly handle and store welding materials and equipment. • Operate power tools and hand tools under guidance. • Perform tack welding to join components before final welding. • Maintain a safe and clean work environment alongside senior welders. • Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times. • Help train and mentor new helpers as needed. • Make sound decisions and solve analytical problems. • Sit or stand for up to 95 % of work hours. • Participate in profit‑sharing or annual incentive bonus plans.
