About the Role
Reporting to the Site Delivery Director, the role is responsible for supporting the overall direction and leadership of the full life‑cycle delivery of a section of the Site Delivery footprint, including capital works and principal contractor responsibilities. You will lead a group of senior managers and a matrix team of disciplines such as quality, safety and suppliers, covering enabling works, major civils, networks and buildings on the Main Development Site. • Define cross‑programme interfaces across SZC civil, conventional island, and nuclear island programmes and alliances. • Secure required resources with HR, maintain SQEP, and address personnel shortfalls. • Direct teams to execute strategies per the Programme Execution Plan (PEP). • Maintain effective stakeholder communications and implement PEP strategies. • Drive contract/package delivery safely, on time, within budget, and monitor progress against milestones. • Identify risks, resolve issues, and propose programme or budget updates. • Ensure scope schedules align with the overall project schedule and escalate discrepancies. • Deliver the List of Deliverables (LOD) for the assigned scope. • Apply continuous improvement principles. • Execute delegated principal contractor responsibilities in line with legislation and CDM strategy. • Make decisions aligned with the Area Management Strategy. • Coordinate with other programmes to gain a high‑level project view and adopt best practices. • Fulfill all contractual requirements for contracts or packages. • Build and maintain effective relationships with all project team members. • Deliver projects in complex, regulated environments with high safety, security, and environmental standards. • Manage engineering design, contracts, and field execution strategies. • Lead multi‑discipline EPCM projects. • Procure and manage complex contracts. • Control costs, risk, schedule, and change using Earned Value tools. • Close out commercial claims and negotiate settlements. • Deliver nuclear new‑build or heavy civil engineering projects, e.g., Hinkley Point C or Sizewell B. • Provide expertise in reinforced concrete structures for nuclear containment and related facilities. • Coordinate precast and in‑situ concrete solutions to meet nuclear‑quality standards. • Apply nuclear safety culture under ONR, EA, and Nuclear Site Licence requirements. • Manage contractors, consultants, and advisors on large regulated construction projects, familiar with NEC and FIDIC contracts. • Deliver effective presentations, influence stakeholders, and maintain strong communication and networks. • Apply project management best practices (APM, Prince 2) in practice. • Manage projects through full lifecycle from concept to handover. • Understand and ensure nuclear quality assurance and control. • Apply a graded approach to quality.

• Embed lessons‑learned and knowledge‑capture as routine practice. • Utilize formwork, falsework, and high‑integrity concrete techniques such as self‑climbing formwork and post‑tensioning. • Demonstrate strong project, financial, and change management skills, using estimating and risk tools. • Apply strong numerical and analytical abilities. • Possess detailed understanding of EPR design. • Hold a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management. • Achieve Chartered Engineer status or fellowship with ICE/IStructE/CIOB (preferred).
