About the Role

The Leadman provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to craft workers in a work crew, assisting the Foreman while operating as a journeyman. The role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment used for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and production processes. • Select pipe type, size, and related materials per specifications. • Inspect worksite for obstructions. • Plan installation sequence to avoid conflicts. • Cut pipe using hand tools, cutting torch, or pipe‑cutting machine. • Thread pipe with threading machine. • Bend pipe manually or with bending tools/machine. • Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings. • Assemble and install metal or non‑metal pipes and fittings using appropriate joint methods. • Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers. • Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, and controls. • Test piping for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges. • Weld pipe supports to structural steel. • Observe and operate production machinery to identify and verify repairs. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Use respiratory protection when required. • Follow all safety and project rules and perform other duties as needed. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans. • Compare size, shape, and form of lines and objects.
