About the Role

The Carpenter is responsible for designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and other items of wood, plywood, and wallboard using pneumatic and electric power tools. They fasten materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and perform final checks to ensure accuracy. The role requires knowledge of advanced layout, Simon forms, anchor bolt layout, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements, as well as the ability to learn and safely operate all related tools and equipment. Work may be performed in plant operations or on construction job sites. • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches; complete reports. • Instruct laborers and construction helpers. • Build and set forms, tie rebar, erect scaffolding, perform finish carpentry, measure, set screeds, install batter boards, and operate hand/power tools. • Inspect work areas and perform repairs or maintenance. • Assist other craft workers as needed. • Operate electric, gas, and pneumatic hand and power tools. • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, ladders, and scaffolds. • Work on uneven, muddy, or soft surfaces and in confined spaces. • Perform duties in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). • Perform math calculations and follow safety policies. • Make decisions, concentrate amid distractions, and maintain attention to detail.
