About the Role
The Building Maintenance Technician (Operator Level 2) reports to the Building Operator Lead Hand and is responsible for operating and maintaining designated judicial facilities, which may consist of a single building or a portfolio of buildings. The role requires working rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and being on‑call for emergency call‑outs. Primary duties include responding to service calls from the Help Desk, Facility Manager, or Lead Hand, prioritizing tasks, and escalating major mechanical, technical, or customer‑relation issues as needed. The technician must keep service tools in good condition, follow safety standards, complete required reports and paperwork promptly, and plan maintenance activities according to contractual and regulatory guidelines while maintaining strong customer relationships. • Respond to Help Desk, Facility Manager, or Lead Hand service calls and prioritize work. • Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, and structural systems. • Perform monthly visual inspections and coordinate third‑party testing of fire dampers, fans, and fire system interfaces. • Conduct low‑level repairs on kitchen equipment, cool rooms, fridges, and data‑room systems. • Adjust building management system set points, print reports, and isolate systems as needed. • Support monthly generator maintenance and witness annual load testing. • Follow safe work practices, complete required paperwork, and lead safe work planning. • Maintain service tools and equipment, arranging repair or replacement when necessary. • Provide excellent customer service and manage client relationships.

What You Bring
Key competencies include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of building operation or stationary engineering experience, and a valid driver's license. Preference is given to candidates with a 5th Class Power Engineering Ticket, BC mechanical trade qualification, and experience with automated building systems; proficiency in MS Office, CMMS, and aerial work platform certification are also required. • Hold a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of building operation or stationary engineer experience. • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CPIC clearance; 5th Class Power Engineering Ticket preferred. • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office, CMMS, and certification to operate aerial work platforms. • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and on‑call emergencies.

Benefits
Compensation for the position ranges from $29.54 to $34.75 CAD per hour, subject to collective bargaining status, geographic location, market rates, and individual experience.
