About the Role

Maintain and update process controls for nickel and silver plating operations to ensure consistent, robust performance. Lead troubleshooting efforts for quality issues across plating lines, implementing corrective actions to resolve adhesion problems, porosity, burning, improper thickness, and other defects. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives using SPC and other analytical tools to enhance plating quality, throughput, and chemical efficiency. Implement productivity and efficiency projects using Lean principles and methodologies. Partner with EHS to ensure strict adherence to OSHA and environmental regulations, including proper handling and management of hazardous waste. Collaborate with wastewater treatment technicians to monitor and maintain equipment performance—including filter presses and pH control systems—to keep all operational parameters within specification. Support EHS programs, including MESH and ISO 14001 requirements, serving as the lead for the Chemical Management MESH element. Identify and correct unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and potential hazards within assigned areas. Work closely with Maintenance to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. • Support nickel and silver plating and wastewater chemical processes. • Optimize plating performance (adhesion, thickness, conductivity) while reducing hazardous waste. • Provide chemical expertise for degreasing, RMA analysis, and related tasks. • Maintain and update plating process controls. • Lead troubleshooting of plating defects and implement corrective actions. • Drive continuous improvement with SPC, DOE, and analytical tools. • Implement Lean productivity and efficiency projects. • Ensure OSHA and environmental compliance with EHS partner. • Monitor wastewater equipment (filter presses, pH control) to maintain specifications. • Lead chemical management for MESH and ISO 14001 EHS programs. • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. • Collaborate with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues safely.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering from an accredited institution. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of the specified job location(s) will be considered; Active Duty Military Service members are exempt from this geographical limitation. Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical handling. Experience working in a union environment. Experience with process standardization and continuous improvement. Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross‑functional teams. Knowledge of SPC, DOE, and control plans. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Expertise required in manufacturing processing methods, assembly and testing techniques, quality, and SPC methods. Detailed knowledge of material properties, processing requirements, and applications. • Hold a BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering. • Minimum 3 years chemical handling experience; union environment experience preferred. • Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross‑functional teams. • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, control plans, and manufacturing processes. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
