About the Role

As the Safety Manager in Hawaii you will lead, train and develop a safety culture for over 150 employees across multiple job sites, collaborating with operational leadership and the national safety program. This full‑time exempt hybrid role is based in O’ahu, includes regular travel (including inter‑island), and reports to the Vice President of Operations. • Lead and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures for all Hawaii operations. • Deliver engaging safety training and coaching to field staff, supervisors, and management. • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across multiple island job sites. • Investigate incidents and near‑misses, produce reports, and drive corrective and preventive actions. • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations and maintain accurate documentation. • Partner with the Company Safety Manager to align Hawaii initiatives with corporate safety goals. • Analyze safety data and trends to drive continuous improvement. • Propose and implement process and equipment enhancements to boost safety, efficiency, and profitability. • Utilize AI‑driven tools and technology to improve safety and operational outcomes. • Collaborate with operations, HR, and support teams to meet organizational objectives. • Manage budgets, including travel and overhead expenses, and evaluate external vendor proposals. • Serve as a trusted resource and advocate for employee health and safety matters.

The ideal candidate has extensive safety management experience in multi‑unit residential construction or plumbing, excels at team building, hands‑on leadership, communication, training and project management, and can foster a culture of safety excellence. Applicants must have at least five years of construction safety experience in Hawaii across multiple trades, current professional certifications (CHST, CSP, or OSHA 500), in‑depth knowledge of OSHA and Hawaii safety regulations, and proven ability to develop and deliver training programs. • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience in Hawaii across multiple trades. • Professional certifications such as CHST, CSP, or OSHA 500. • In‑depth knowledge of OSHA and Hawaii‑specific safety regulations. • Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training programs. • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general computer skills. • Ability to travel regularly, including inter‑island, up to 20% of time. • Physical ability to lift 25‑50 lb, walk, and climb stairs/ladders regularly.
