About the Role

The role involves constructing, fabricating, installing, and dismantling form work for metal, wood, and other accessories, ensuring that structures and fixtures are built to specifications. • Build cooling tower structures using necessary tools and materials. • Examine blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine required materials and dimensions. • Select, load, and haul job material to the work site. • Prepare layout of form or fixture using lines or grades. • Measure boards, timbers, or plywood and mark cutting lines; shape materials to required sizes with saws, chisels, and planes. • Verify accuracy of structures with transit, plumb bob, square, and level. • Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars. • Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete‑supporting forms. • Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for concrete piers, footings, and walls. • Erect framework for structures and lay sub‑flooring. • Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams. • Erect scaffolding and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. • Construct forms, chutes, and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout. • Fit and install pre‑fabricated window frames, doors, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finished hardware. • Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs; set and brace anchor bolts. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment. • Operate electric and pneumatic tools. • Rig materials when needed. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Work within precise standards of accuracy. • Rate information using measurable standards. • Compare and detect differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. • Interpret flat drawings or diagrams and visualize them as solid objects. • Follow oral and written directions.

What You Bring

The position progresses from Journeyman, requiring at least three years of documented field experience and the ability to read and interpret instructions, to Certified Journeyman, which requires NCCER written and/or practical certifications, and then to Leadman, who provides leadership and guidance to other craft workers while assisting the Foreman and performing journeyman duties. Candidates may need a high school diploma or equivalent and must have relevant field experience; they rely on established guidelines and work under direct supervision without needing to exercise independent judgment, reporting to a supervisor or manager. Physical demands include frequent standing (70%), occasional walking (20%) and sitting (10%); workers must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lb, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle tools, and perform fine motor tasks, with intensity indicated by the symbols NP, O, F, and C. • Apply basic mathematical skills.
