About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. Depending on the route, drivers perform pick‑up service for containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, navigate high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleys, and lots, and execute skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers focus on household waste, while roll‑off drivers handle large open‑top and compactor containers, often in tight overhead environments. Drivers must adhere to safety standards and regulations while maintaining their vehicles, and they collaborate with Operations Managers and Dispatch to ensure efficient routes and address any issues. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) for each shift. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, property damage, and service interruptions promptly to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend all required training programs, briefings, and meetings. • Communicate customer requests and route issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Execute skilled backing maneuvers to safely load, unload, and position containers. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a valid Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement, at least one year of recent commercial or military driving experience, and legal eligibility to work in the country. Applicants must be at least 18 years old; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. • Maintain a valid Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of recent commercial or military driving experience. • Meet the minimum age requirement of 18 and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada. • Preferred: High school diploma or GED.
