About the Role

The General Manager leads one of Republic Services' Business Units with full profit and loss responsibility, managing a matrixed infrastructure team that includes operations, fleet, sales, finance, human resources, safety, and environmental engineering. The role executes a local market strategy that aligns with the Area's overall strategic and marketing plans, driving functional excellence and budget achievement. Key responsibilities include implementing the Area's strategic operating plan, championing safety, enhancing customer experience, improving efficiency, and maximizing profitability. The General Manager collaborates with sales leadership to drive commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal growth, oversees safety and accident‑prevention programs, ensures compliance with environmental, regulatory, and ethical standards, and manages performance, talent development, and external stakeholder relationships while traveling up to 30% of the time. • Lead a Business Unit with full P&L responsibility and oversee operations, fleet, sales, finance, HR, safety, and environmental teams • Execute local market strategy aligned with area goals to drive safety, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability • Develop and manage commercial sales efforts across commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal sectors • Implement safety and accident‑prevention programs and ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and ethical standards • Lead change‑management initiatives to introduce and sustain new processes for growth and durability • Build and maintain strong relationships with government, community, and environmental groups

What You Bring

Required qualifications are a high school diploma or G.E.D., a minimum of three years of progressive leadership and management experience, and at least three years of P&L responsibility. Preferred experience includes work in the environmental services industry, prior employment with a Fortune 500 company, labor‑relations expertise, and seven or more years of progressive leadership. The successful candidate demonstrates strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to execute formulated strategies. They are capable of leading large‑scale change initiatives, directing extensive functional teams, building high‑performing sales groups, and maintaining a process‑ and results‑oriented mindset, while displaying collaborative, creative, and ethical leadership across multiple sites and business lines. • Travel up to 30% of the time for business needs • Required: high school diploma/GED, minimum 3 years progressive leadership, 3 years P&L experience • Preferred: environmental services industry experience, Fortune 500 background, labor‑relations experience, 7+ years progressive leadership • Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to execute formulated strategy • Ability to lead large‑scale change, direct extensive functional staff, and build high‑performing sales teams • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills; process‑ and results‑oriented mindset

Compensation includes a base salary ranging from $194,100 to $242,600 with an annual bonus target of up to 45% of base pay.
