About the Role

As a Resident Project Representative Senior, you will lead construction oversight, ensuring compliance with Caltrans standards while coordinating multidisciplinary teams of inspectors, specialists, and environmental monitors to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions. • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies. • Maintain accurate daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment, and materials. • Review construction materials for contract compliance. • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance. • Attend and chair construction progress meetings. • Observe installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems. • Identify nonconforming work, develop punchlists, and ensure correction. • Develop record documentation for engineer review and acceptance. • Assist with project audit and closeout. • Apply Caltrans policies, procedures, and standards to roadway construction. • Administer roadway construction contracts, including traffic control, drainage, paving, structures, utilities, and stakeholder coordination. • Apply Caltrans Construction Manual, Standard Specifications, Plans, Special Provisions, and LAPM. • Manage construction schedules, review CPM schedules, perform time impact analyses, and administer contracts. • Control cost and quantity, review progress payments, and negotiate change orders. • Maintain complete construction documentation (diaries, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, change orders, final records). • Oversee inspection staff and coordinate specialty inspectors, testing personnel, survey staff, and environmental monitors. • Ensure environmental compliance, including SWPPP implementation, permit conditions, and mitigation measures. • Communicate and coordinate with contractors, agencies, utilities, and the public.

What You Bring

Candidates should possess a strong technical background, including a PE license in California and at least ten years of transportation construction experience, with six years in a Resident Engineer‑type role on Caltrans projects. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction technology, proficiency with construction software, and excellent communication skills are essential. • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California; 10+ years transportation construction experience, including 6+ years as Resident Engineer on Caltrans or Local Assistance projects. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field. • Minimum 10 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects. • Strong understanding of contracts, codes, and construction laws. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or similar construction software. • Pre‑employment drug test required.
