About the Role

The company is hiring a Geologist for its Billings, Montana office to support projects that involve data management, site investigation, and remediation. The role includes both field and office responsibilities, requiring travel and occasional overnight stays near project locations. Field duties involve collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil‑vapor samples, performing geological logging and interpretation, and overseeing subcontractors such as laboratories, excavation, and drilling firms. Office work focuses on data analysis and preparing investigation reports, while the geologist must work collaboratively with AECOM staff and subcontractors and maintain a strong safety mindset. • Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil‑vapor samples; perform geological logging and interpretation. • Oversee subcontractors including laboratories, excavation, and drilling companies. • Travel to and stay overnight at project sites as required. • Analyze collected data and prepare investigation reports. • Collaborate with AECOM staff and subcontractors as part of project teams. • Maintain flexibility across diverse projects and uphold health and safety standards.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field and have at least two years of environmental remediation or investigation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. U.S. citizenship, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and successful completion of background, motor‑vehicle, and substance‑abuse screenings are required. Preferred qualifications include hands‑on experience collecting and evaluating environmental data, preparing technical reports and drawings, and demonstrating independent leadership in the field. A keen understanding of hazard recognition, strong technical writing skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are also valued. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field and at least 2 years of remediation/investigation experience. • Be a U.S. citizen with a valid U.S. driver’s license. • Pass background check, motor‑vehicle records review, and substance‑abuse test. • Prefer experience in field data collection, technical report preparation, and hazard recognition. • Demonstrate independent leadership and proficiency with MS Office. • Position requires 100 % on‑site work, possible regional travel, and random drug/alcohol screening.
