About the Role

The Director, Digital HR Technology for the Rail sector will steer the HR technology strategy, execution and adoption in line with Global Digital HR vision and governance. This role owns Workday as the core HR platform, oversees complementary technologies, leads AI and automation initiatives, and manages a small sector‑focused HR tech team while serving as the primary liaison to Global Digital HR. • Lead the Rail sector HR technology strategy, creating a 3‑year roadmap, managing the budget and advising HR leadership. • Own and govern the sector‑wide Workday platform, overseeing configuration, releases, support tiers and ensuring data quality and compliance. • Manage complementary HR systems (payroll, benefits, case management, talent tools, LMS/LXP, VMS) to ensure secure, scalable integrations and cost‑effective vendor rationalisation. • Champion AI and automation in HR, identifying, piloting and scaling responsible AI use cases from hire to retire. • Build and lead a high‑performing sector HR technology team, defining roles, governance and fostering a globally distributed culture. • Serve as the primary liaison with Global Digital HR, translating sector needs into requirements and enforcing architecture, security and change governance. • Drive adoption and value realization by defining KPIs, creating learning resources and partnering with change and communications teams.

What You Bring

Success will be measured by the compliant rollout and adoption of Workday across the Rail sector, strong alignment of sector HR priorities with the global technology roadmap, measurable business value from AI‑enabled HR solutions, and clear governance that simplifies the overall HR technology landscape. The ideal candidate is a team‑player with 10‑15+ years of experience in HR technology or digital HR, strong hands‑on expertise with Workday in complex global settings, and proven people‑leadership skills in both direct and matrixed teams. A deep understanding of HR processes, integrations and data governance, along with excellent English communication skills, is required. Preferred experience includes leading AI or automation projects in HR, familiarity with case‑management, contingent workforce VMS, skills‑assessment, learning platforms and payroll/benefits applications, as well as background in rail, transportation, infrastructure or engineering sectors. Experience working across European and/or Indian delivery models is a plus.
