About the Role
The role involves site development engineering and project management for various land development projects, including civil design, permitting, and use of hydrology modeling, storm drainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software. Additional duties include research, coordination, staff management, cost estimating, preparing bid packages, technical specifications, and gaining exposure to plan production, financials, and client interaction with training and mentorship. • Perform site civil design, permitting, and engineering tasks for land development projects. • Utilize hydrology modeling, storm drainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software. • Conduct research, coordinate with stakeholders, and manage project schedules. • Lead staff, estimate costs, prepare bid packages, and write technical specifications.

What You Bring
Kimley-Horn's Albuquerque office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Land Development team. This is an onsite role, not remote. Candidates need 2+ years at a civil engineering design firm, a B.S. or M.S. from an ABET‑accredited program, and EIT or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months). Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong communication, urgency, detail‑orientation, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required. • Minimum 2 years experience at a civil engineering design firm. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university. • Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months. • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong sense of urgency, self‑initiative, and detail‑orientation. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
