About the Role

As a design authority for an engineering discipline of low to medium complexity, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, ensuring cost‑effectiveness, adherence to contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. You will design electrical power systems and controls, preferably following IEC/IEEE standards, and model HVDC system stability using tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, and PowerFactory. The role involves designing controllers, handling interfaces with other departments, and contributing to projects, tenders, and base work while maintaining compliance with external and internal regulations. • Design and develop electrical power system and control solutions for low‑to‑medium complexity projects. • Model HVDC system stability and create controller designs using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, and PowerFactory. • Conduct power‑system studies, select and size equipment such as transformers, capacitors, reactors, and protective devices. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and ensure seamless integration of designs. • Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, internal procedures, and safety and integrity regulations. • Contribute to project proposals, tenders, and base‑work activities. • Utilize simulation tools (PSSE, PSCAD/EMTDC, PowerFactory, MATLAB/Mathcad) for analysis and verification.

Key Responsibilities

  • hvdc modeling
  • power studies
  • equipment sizing
  • simulation tools
  • control design
  • compliance

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a B.E. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (minimum five years experience) or a Master’s/Ph.D. in Power Systems with three to eighteen years (or one to five years for a Ph.D.) of relevant experience. Extensive knowledge of power‑system studies, HVDC/FACTS, power‑electronics applications, and equipment selection is required, along with proficiency in simulation tools such as PSSE, PSCAD/EMTDC, PowerFactory, MATLAB, and Mathcad. Strong analytical abilities, teamwork, and excellent interpersonal communication in English are essential. The role also expects adherence to Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for one’s actions while caring for colleagues and the business. • Apply knowledge of power electronics in HV/EHV systems, including FACTS and HVDC applications. • Demonstrate strong analytical, teamwork, and communication skills, with fluency in English. • Possess a B.E. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (≥5 years) or M.E./Ph.D. in Power Systems with relevant industry experience.
