About the Role

The operator will work in several areas, including Powder Blending and tube extrusion of various diameters (4”, 6”, 7”, ILS). Duties include pulling powder from staging, loading it into the press, setting up the extruder with the correct pin and die, loading billets, setting limit switches and dial speeds, and examining extruded tubes at the start and end of each billet. The operator charts measures, moves pans to ovens, applies and removes mica dust, monitors tube dimensions, sets timers, and runs ovens, while performing related tasks in MFGPro such as disbursing raw materials and maintaining the air emissions log. The role requires producing a quality product safely, on time, and at the lowest possible cost by reviewing work orders, specifications, and instructions to determine materials, procedures, and machine settings. Accurate recording of process data and completion of computer transactions (labor, scrap, inventory disbursements, cycle counts, expense items) are essential, as is participation in cell/team activities like meetings, problem‑solving sessions, and Kaizen events. The operator must maintain a clean, orderly work environment through effective housekeeping, 5S, and TPM practices and follow all plant, safety, and environmental regulations. Safety responsibilities include adhering to job‑specific and facility‑wide health and safety procedures, reporting hazards, and contributing to job safety analyses and safe work procedures. The operator participates in accident, near‑miss, and hazard investigations, engages in health‑and‑safety training, and provides suggestions for program improvement while ensuring regulatory compliance in the work area. All duties are performed in accordance with ITAR requirements, and only U.S. persons as defined by ITAR may be considered for this position. • Set up and operate multiple production machines following blueprints and setup sheets. • Load powder and billets, adjust extruder settings, and monitor tube dimensions throughout the process. • Record process data and complete labor, scrap, inventory, and expense transactions in MFGPro. • Participate in team meetings, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Maintain 5S, TPM, and housekeeping standards to ensure a safe work environment. • Follow all plant safety, environmental, and ITAR compliance regulations. • Report hazards, assist with job safety analysis, and investigate incidents.

What You Bring

The position is for an experienced machine operator who can follow written instructions and read blueprint specifications. Under moderate supervision the operator sets up and runs multiple types of production machines on a limited range of work that requires close tolerances and exacting set‑ups, though not highly complex. Machine components are adjusted to regulate speeds, pressures, feeds and operation sequences as prescribed. Qualifications include a High School Diploma, at least six months of manufacturing experience, and residence within 50 miles of the plant. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, political asylees, or refugees as defined by ITAR. Strong verbal and written communication, problem‑solving, prioritization, decision‑making, and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to learn computer transactions and operate production equipment. • Required: High School Diploma, minimum six months manufacturing experience, residence within 50 miles, and U.S. person status per ITAR. • Demonstrate strong verbal/written communication, problem‑solving, prioritization, and teamwork abilities. • Ability to learn computer transactions and successfully operate production equipment.
