About the Role
The Data Analytics & Visualization Lead will support the Chicago Department of Water Management’s Capital Improvement Program by designing and delivering analytics solutions and dashboards that turn engineering, operations, and maintenance data into actionable insights. The role functions as a technical team lead, ensuring data quality, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring junior staff without full managerial responsibilities. • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines using SQL Server, stored procedures, and ETL frameworks. • Integrate EAM, GIS, operational, maintenance, and engineering datasets into centralized analytical models. • Develop operational and strategic KPI frameworks for engineering and utility management. • Create semantic data models and optimized datasets for end‑user dashboards. • Lead development, enhancement, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards for operations, engineering, maintenance, capital planning, and leadership decisions. • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements, prototype, iterate, and deliver visual tools. • Work closely with DWM staff and internal teams to gather requirements, develop prototypes, and iterate rapidly. • Serve as technical lead and mentor for junior analysts or engineers, providing design review and oversight. • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, GIS, EAM, Water Quality, Program Controls) to ensure data alignment.

What You Bring
Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least four years of experience, with preferred expertise in GIS integration, utilities, and leading small BI teams. Strong proficiency in Power BI, SQL, data modeling, and communication skills are required, while experience in predictive analytics, UI/UX best practices, and relevant certifications are advantageous. • Design intuitive, user‑friendly dashboards following visualization and UX best practices.

Benefits
The position is on‑site in Chicago, Illinois, offering a salary range of $120,000 to $135,000 annually. Sponsorship is not available, but relocation assistance may be provided.
