About the Role
The Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering the post‑collection site and collects usage fees from customers. This role ensures accurate billing and efficient processing of waste loads. The attendant determines the content of incoming material to bill customers correctly, accepts or rejects loads based on content, and suggests alternatives for special waste. They receive payments, issue receipts, balance daily receipts, and deposit funds securely. Using truck scales and computer systems, they document waste quantities, track totals, and notify operations of special or hazardous loads, processing required paperwork. The attendant also answers phone inquiries, maintains a clean work area, and performs other assigned duties. • Determine waste content and bill customers accurately • Accept or reject waste loads and suggest alternatives for special waste • Receive payments, issue receipts, and balance daily receipts • Deposit daily receipts securely into the safe depository • Document waste using truck scales and computer systems; track total waste volumes • Notify operations of special or hazardous loads and complete required paperwork • Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers • Maintain cleanliness of the work area
