About the Role
HDR seeks a Texas Gulf Coast Area Operations Manager who will partner with senior business and operations leaders to plan, navigate, and grow the practice, overseeing more than 220 staff delivering infrastructure, environmental, planning, and consulting services. • Assist business groups in developing area strategic and operating plans and budgets. • Partner with Regional Business Group directors to drive implementation of key initiatives, hires, investments, and growth strategies. • Assist the Regional Director of Operations in coordinating and implementing area operational strategies, goals, and actions. • Support local managers in implementing and monitoring area operations including marketing, project services, staff development, quality, and client relations. • Represent HDR in local communities, trade associations, and with clients across the Texas Gulf Coast. • Serve as Client Manager for key local market clients. • Assist in special regional assignments and issue resolution. • Monitor area performance indicators and oversee improvement actions. • Collaborate with group supervisors to improve client service, meet company goals, and increase growth and profitability. • Facilitate staff communication, training, career development, and mentor departmental leaders. • Implement company policies and procedures, including quality, safety, recruiting, and risk management. • Serve as a role model in business and the community. • Work with area groups and Project Managers on problem projects and issue resolution.

What You Bring
The role requires strategic thinking, strong emotional intelligence, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to the 2027 Strategic Plan’s theme “We Make Great Things Possible.” The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a professional field, possess at least ten years of experience managing diverse teams, maintain a professional or engineering registration, and demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities; a PE license and A/E/C consulting experience are preferred. • Possess signatory authority as needed. • Professional Engineering (PE) registration highly preferred. • Experience working for an A/E/C consulting firm. • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field. • Minimum of 10 years’ experience developing and managing diverse teams. • Professional or Engineering registration and related technical experience. • Strong communication and listening skills. • Ability to handle multiple assignments. • Good leadership and organizational skills.
