About the Role

The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations to transfer, spread, cover, load, and compact waste or soil efficiently and securely. Key duties include conducting pre‑ and post‑operation equipment inspections, operating forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front‑end loaders and other machinery following safety standards, continuously monitoring waste for prohibited materials, and ensuring equipment is ready for use while minimizing downtime. Operators also perform minor equipment servicing, document service activities, report complex repairs to the maintenance shop, complete equipment condition reports, keep the work area clean, and follow all required safety policies and procedures. • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation equipment inspections and document conditions • Safely operate forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front‑end loaders and other heavy equipment • Monitor waste streams for prohibited materials and ensure equipment readiness • Conduct minor equipment servicing and report complex repairs to maintenance • Keep the work area clean and complete required shift reports • Deliver professional, courteous customer service and uphold safety standards
