Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Lead mechanical design engineer for aerospace projects, managing design, risk, and cross‑functional teams.
Job Highlights
About the Role
Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams composed of multiple engineering disciplines. Coordinate and execute product design activities within cost and schedule constraints while understanding the business impact of various programmatic solutions and design choices. Serve as a consultant within the site engineering organization, drawing on a defined technology or product area of expertise. Complete conceptual or clean‑sheet designs for less complex technical domains and manage technical risk through exhaustive identification, prioritization, and data‑driven mitigation. Apply Design for Six Sigma principles, managing Critical to Quality requirements, manufacturing variation, and design for manufacturing and assembly to meet recurring cost targets. Act as the technical interface with external customers, determining their wants and needs and translating them into verifiable engineering requirements. Develop engineering standards and design guides to support continuous improvement of the domain. Review project‑related documentation such as analysis or test results created by peers to ensure completeness and quality. Work directly with internal and external customers, suppliers, and a wide range of engineering and program functions to develop systems and products. Coach junior to mid‑level engineers within the specified domain. • Lead large‑scale aerospace projects across global, cross‑functional teams. • Provide technical leadership and guidance to multi‑discipline engineering teams. • Coordinate and execute product design within cost and schedule constraints. • Manage technical risk through identification, prioritization, and mitigation. • Interface with external customers to translate needs into verifiable requirements. • Develop engineering standards, design guides, and apply Design for Six Sigma principles. • Review and ensure quality of peer analysis and test documentation. • Coach and mentor junior to mid‑level engineers in the domain.
