About the Role
The Senior Engineer will manage electrical design, inspection, and condition‑assessment projects for a wide range of public‑sector facilities, including transit stations, education buildings, industrial sites, and water/wastewater treatment plants nationwide. Key duties include preparing electrical design criteria, directive drawings, system calculations, technical analyses, contract design drawings, detailed specifications, and performance‑based specifications for power distribution and related systems. The role involves site surveys of existing conditions, designing low/medium‑voltage power distribution, standby generation, lighting, IT networks, access control, security, and fire alarm systems, and providing construction assistance such as shop‑drawing reviews and contractor coordination. The incumbent will supervise and mentor a team of engineers and designers, manage project performance reporting, lead meetings with clients, agencies, and utilities, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and engineering standards. Additional responsibilities include preparing project specifications, coordinating as‑built drawings, and generating reports and design documents such as electrical floor plans, schematics, load calculations, short‑circuit studies, protective‑device coordination, and arc‑flash analyses.

GFT is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Water Treatment to join the Building and Places Team in Valley Forge, PA or Philadelphia, PA. The role follows a hybrid work model that requires regular attendance at the office. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and possess at least eight years of progressive experience in electrical system design for water/wastewater treatment and pump‑station facilities. A Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, or Virginia PE license is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within one year. Preferred qualifications include strong project‑management and leadership skills, familiarity with alternative delivery methods, proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM (Revit), experience with power studies and SKM Power Tools, and the ability to thrive in fast‑paced, independent or team environments.
