About the Role
In this position you will develop and deepen client relationships, serve as a trusted advisor, and translate client priorities into actionable solutions. You will lead or senior‑role deliver key projects, convert successful delivery into repeat work, and identify growth opportunities that inform strategy, pricing, and risk assessment. You will also shape pursuits, partner with market leads and technical teams, contribute to proposals, and oversee project performance—including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction—while tracking KPIs such as backlog, margin, and client health. • Serve as trusted advisor to existing clients, delivering consistent project performance. • Maintain deep understanding of client priorities, funding realities, and community outcomes. • Lead delivery of key transportation projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations. • Convert successful project delivery into repeat work, expanded scope, and follow‑on opportunities. • Identify growth opportunities from active projects to inform strategy and pricing. • Shape and lead pursuit efforts, contributing to proposal strategy, messaging, and interviews. • Partner with relationship managers, market leads, and technical teams to target opportunities. • Participate in contract negotiations with awareness of delivery risk and resourcing. • Oversee project performance—scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction. • Track and manage KPIs such as backlog, margin, and client health for assigned accounts. • Ensure compliance with regulations, procurement requirements, and internal governance. • Act as subject‑matter expert in technology, policy, or regulation, maintaining accreditations. • Manage a portfolio of complex customer relationships and/or a small team of account managers. • Develop and implement relationship management plans for strategic, complex accounts. • Clarify customer needs by consulting with stakeholders and coordinating internal specialists. • Build senior‑level networks, represent GHD at industry events, and gather market intelligence. • Lead cross‑functional teams to configure tailored solutions and negotiate profitable agreements. • Monitor operational compliance and promote a customer‑focused culture.

What You Bring
The Project Director‑Transportation Inland Empire acts as a seller‑doer, building trust by linking pursuit promises, delivery performance, and future client selection. The role can be based in Ontario, Riverside, or San Bernardino Counties and operates in a hybrid model, with three days per week in the office to collaborate and excel. The role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, a professional engineer license preferred, and at least 10 years of municipal or public sector project delivery and client relationship management experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong seller‑doer capabilities, business development, proposal preparation, and excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency with Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
