About the Role
The Senior Integrations Engineer will support the integration of advanced payloads into next‑generation unmanned aerial systems. Working directly with DoD customers, the role involves specifying, installing, testing, and troubleshooting custom physical and digital payloads. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission‑ready systems in high‑pressure environments, drawing on deep expertise in avionics, embedded systems, RF communications, and real‑time software integration. • Integrate avionics, mission payloads, flight controllers, and embedded subsystems while ensuring reliability and safety. • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot tactical and airborne networks, including RF links and embedded communications. • Diagnose and resolve electromechanical, avionics, and embedded software issues in lab and field settings. • Translate mission requirements into detailed technical specifications. • Develop and maintain embedded and application‑level software; script automation tools in Python, Bash, Shell, and C/C++. • Create and execute test plans, validate performance, analyze results, and provide technical recommendations. • Produce integration guides, test reports, user manuals, and troubleshooting documentation in partnership with technical writers. • Collaborate with platform, autonomy, and software engineering teams, leveraging additive manufacturing and simulation tools. • Provide performance feedback to hardware design and manufacturing teams. • Perform repair and rework on Firestorm and third‑party hardware to maintain mission readiness. • Support preparation, configuration, and deployment of Modular Electronic Command and Control Systems (MECCS). • Assemble and integrate custom hardware and software payloads tailored to specific mission and customer needs.

What You Bring
This on‑site position is based in Rome, NY, and may require up to 15% travel, occasional weekend work, and the ability to lift 30 lbs while operating in austere conditions. The work environment includes standard office and manufacturing settings with exposure to loud noise, heat, dust, or chemicals, and the use of personal protective equipment as needed. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to relocate if necessary. • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related field. • At least 5 years of systems integration, troubleshooting, and field operations experience. • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (ITAR compliance). • Strong networking knowledge (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, wireless). • Proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and Windows command‑line environments. • Programming/scripting experience in Python, Bash, Shell, and C/C++ for embedded development. • Expertise troubleshooting avionics systems, embedded software, RF equipment, and integrated hardware. • Familiarity with Software Defined Radios (SDRs) configuration and tuning. • Experience with virtualization/container tools such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes. • Understanding of cybersecurity compliance for embedded and tactical networks. • Strong technical writing ability for system documentation and procedures.

The salary range for this role is $116,000 – $162,000, reflecting factors such as experience, education, and location.
