About the Role

As a Senior Rail Operations and Maintenance Specialist in our Modelling and Operations team, you will define how rail transit systems operate and evolve, guiding operations and maintenance strategies from concept through delivery to ensure safe, efficient, reliable service for the communities that depend on them. You will lead operational planning and analysis across all project phases, develop and negotiate Operating and Maintenance Agreements, and provide O&M expertise within multidisciplinary design teams, delivering concepts of operations, maintenance plans, readiness and training documents. You will oversee operational simulation, interpret modelling results, review technical reports, and build strong client relationships while supporting the growth of WSP Canada’s Modelling and Operations practice and mentoring junior staff. • Lead operational planning and analysis for rail transit projects from concept to O&M. • Develop and negotiate Operating and Maintenance Agreements. • Produce ConOps, Operations Plans, Maintenance Plans, Readiness Plans, Training Plans and O&M specifications. • Oversee operational simulation, interpret results and present insights to clients. • Apply system‑level expertise to rail operations, track design, power, signalling, ventilation and traffic interfaces. • Review technical reports to verify O&M requirements and design intent. • Build strong client relationships and deliver data‑driven operational solutions. • Expand WSP Canada’s Modelling and Operations practice and O&M capabilities. • Mentor junior staff and foster collaboration across local and global teams. • Delivered multi‑phase rail projects (design, testing, commissioning, handover) across LRT, metro, tram, commuter and mixed‑traffic networks.

What You Bring

The role requires an engineering degree (preferred) and more than ten years of rail transit operations and maintenance experience. You must have extensive knowledge of operating and maintenance plan development, system‑level design, signalling and train control, asset management, business planning, budgeting and multi‑phase project delivery across various rail environments. • Hold an engineering degree (preferred) with 10+ years rail transit O&M experience. • Skilled in developing operating, maintenance, and performance assessment plans. • Proven leader of operational modelling for capacity, timetable and routing studies. • Deep knowledge of signalling systems (Fixed Block, ETCS, CBTC) and asset management. • Experience in business planning, budgeting, cost modelling and agreement negotiations.
