About the Role
The successful candidate will perform all aspects of mechanical maintenance, work collaboratively in a planned environment, and adapt shift schedules to meet daily and seasonal plant needs. While on shift, the incumbent must engage in regulatory and on‑the‑job training, travel across the province to support other locations, and uphold occupational health and safety and environmental standards. • Perform routine mechanical maintenance and repair on equipment throughout the thermal generating station. • Respond to trouble‑maintenance situations and adjust assignments as needed. • Participate in regulatory training and on‑the‑job skill development programs. • Travel across the province to assist other locations when required. • Observe all Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations. • Ensure compliance with environmental management system processes and initiatives.

What You Bring
The Opportunity includes positions in Nova Scotia Power's Power Production department at Tuft's Cove Generating Station in Dartmouth, NS, offering a temporary full‑time labour‑pool role with a salary of $48.41 per hour under the NSPI/IBEW Collective Labour Agreement. We are looking for a Maintenance Person Certified (Shift) – Millwright/Welder – Labour Pool to join our Power Production team in a flexible term labour pool position. Reporting to the Mechanical Trades Supervisor, the role involves routine mechanical maintenance and repair on equipment throughout the thermal generating station. Certification as a Journeyperson Millwright or High Pressure Welder with at least three years of modern mechanical maintenance experience in a generating station or similar industry is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem‑resolution abilities, teamwork, computer aptitude, and the physical capability to work at heights. Additional certifications such as machinist, welder, or pipefitter are considered assets. The role demands lifting 40‑50 lb loads, occasional handling of up to 100 lb, and performing tasks that involve bending, climbing, and static neck flexion. Workers must be able to operate safely at considerable heights and perform a range of physical activities throughout the shift. • Work effectively as a team member in a planned work environment and adapt to shift schedules based on plant requirements. • Comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy, including pre‑employment testing. • Hold Journeyperson certification (Millwright or High Pressure Welder) with at least three years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong problem‑resolution skills, computer proficiency, and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Possess physical capability to lift 40‑50 lb, handle occasional loads up to 100 lb, and work at considerable heights.
