About the Role

The CS Senior Controls Engineer supports the installation and commissioning of material distribution systems, both new and retrofit, offering high-level insight into project scope and software. They provide both remote and onsite assistance for complex automation systems and guide installation teams with deep knowledge of equipment, technologies, and system software. Simultaneously, they oversee multiple controls projects, ensuring engineering principles are correctly applied and that each project remains on schedule and within budget. The engineer develops and maintains a standardized code library for reuse across implementations, and handles application engineering of HMI, VFD, and PLC systems for fully automated warehouses. They produce detailed system documentation and deliver documented PLC code for internal teams and external customers, while leading scratch development of PLC, VFD, and HMI programs. Acting as a subject-matter expert on Swisslog technologies, they support customers and junior staff and collaborate with engineering and sales to design, quote, and implement automation improvements.

What You Bring

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. • Minimum 10+ years of industrial experience with Swisslog’s standard programming platforms. • Proficiency with Siemens Step 7 Classic, TIA Portal, and Rockwell programming software. • Expertise in PLC programming languages (ladder, FBD, STL, SCL) and best practices. • Prior experience leading controls teams on new or retrofit projects. • Siemens Certified Programmer – SIMATIC S7 with STEP7 v5 (desired). • Siemens Certified Programmer – SIMATIC S7 with TIA Portal (desired). • Experience with Industrial Ethernet and field buses such as PROFIBUS, AS‑i, DeviceNET (desired). • Familiarity with VFD OEMs: SEW, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, or Kuka (desired).
