About the Role

The leader will head a growing, multidisciplinary transportation planning practice, overseeing the planning, production, and delivery of projects such as mobility plans, multimodal corridor and safety studies, transit and rail analyses, pedestrian and bicycle initiatives, parking and curbside management, electric vehicle strategies, climate adaptation plans, and MPO long‑range transportation plans. Responsibilities also include public engagement, grant writing, client program management, capital planning, and policy development, while mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative environment. Leadership duties involve operating with integrity, defining practice vision, business planning, and strategy, and establishing goals while maintaining strong client relationships. The role requires open communication with partners and the team, profitable project management, transitioning work to qualified staff, recruiting, and serving as a positive role model. • Lead a multidisciplinary transportation planning practice. • Manage planning, production, and delivery of transportation mobility plans, multimodal corridor studies, safety action plans, transit and passenger rail studies, pedestrian and bicycle studies, parking and curbside management studies, electric vehicle plans, climate adaptation and resilience plans, and MPO long‑range transportation plans. • Conduct public engagement, grant writing, and assist clients with program management, capital planning, and policy development. • Mentor and develop staff, fostering teamwork, initiative, and growth. • Direct outreach activities, presenting project scope, impacts, benefits, and mitigations to community stakeholders. • Build and maintain positive client relationships; communicate openly with partners and team. • Manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, recruit, and serve as a positive role model.

What You Bring

Candidates must have 15+ years of planning experience, especially with large capital transit projects, a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Transportation or Urban Planning, and preferably AICP certification. They should demonstrate high‑quality deliverables, business development skills, and effective communication at all organizational levels. • Operate with integrity and sound business principles; set practice vision, goals, and strategy. • 15+ years of transportation planning experience, including large capital transit infrastructure projects. • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related field; AICP certification preferred. • Demonstrated business development and marketing experience, including proposal, scope of work, and budget preparation. • Effective communication at all organizational levels and ability to work in a team environment.
