About the Role
The Senior Project Controls Manager will operate within capital delivery, leading project teams in a collaborative environment and interfacing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The role oversees the simultaneous delivery of multiple water and water‑recycling projects under the AMP8 programme, ensuring compliance with client governance, risk, cost and change‑control processes. Mace’s values guide our work: Safety First – championing exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme and sustainability standards; Client Focus – designing and implementing PMO and Project Controls frameworks that deliver on promises; Integrity – managing controls with honesty and holding others accountable; and Creating Opportunity – mentoring and developing teams while driving innovation and net‑zero carbon transition. • Design and implement PMO and Project Controls frameworks and strategies for assigned commissions. • Lead and manage PMO and project controls performance, including cost, schedule, change, risk and reporting. • Facilitate periodic reporting, governance and performance meetings with clients, consultants and contractors. • Develop and manage baseline scope, time, cost, risk, assumptions and monitor change and contingencies. • Provide expert advice to project teams, mentor PMO staff and support their career development. • Coordinate activities to align with Mace Control Centre, client requirements and legislation. • Drive integration of project controls with planning disciplines and support resourcing/recruitment for commissions. • Contribute to quantitative cost and time analysis and identify opportunities to mitigate risks. • Support net‑zero carbon transition by managing carbon emissions and reductions during delivery. • Champion safety, quality and sustainability standards across all project activities.

What You Bring
• Proven leadership of PMO and project controls on complex construction projects. • Experience establishing PMO services, audit and assurance frameworks or strategies. • Strong knowledge of risk tools and software such as MS Office, Power BI, Aconex, Primavera P6 and RiskHive. • Deep understanding of construction project lifecycles, interfaces and consultancy practices. • Sector expertise in at least one area (e.g., rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals). • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to communicate complex information to non‑technical audiences and present persuasively. • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and capability to “deep dive” into data. • Resilience under pressure, ability to manage multiple priorities and negotiate with senior stakeholders. • Relevant university degree (construction, engineering) or equivalent and progress towards chartered status (APM PPC Foundation/Practitioner, P3O/P3M3).
