About the Role
This maintenance laborer/helper/fire watch position supports various manual tasks on industrial construction sites, working under the direction of a supervisor or journeyman. Responsibilities include moving and retrieving equipment, digging, providing fire safety standby, and climbing onto structures and scaffolding as needed. • Use industrial hand and power tools to move equipment, dig, retrieve items, and perform fire watch duties. • Operate rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs. • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and repair of worn parts. • Maintain reliable transportation and be available to work any day of the week as needed.

What You Bring
Candidates must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lb, and must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for up to 12 hours per day while wearing required personal protective equipment. Reliable transportation and availability to work any day of the week are required. The role requires basic knowledge of hand and power tools, good problem‑solving abilities, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to Zachry’s safety rules, values, and a drug‑free workplace is essential. Preferred candidates include former Zachry employees, individuals with basic mechanical knowledge, experience on industrial construction sites, or formal technical education. • Climb structures and scaffolding, work at heights, and consistently wear required PPE. • Lift and carry up to 50 lb, stand, walk, bend, squat, and work up to 12 hours per shift. • Communicate effectively, follow supervisor directions, and work collaboratively as a team player. • Preferred: prior Zachry employment, basic mechanical knowledge, industrial construction experience, or formal technical education.
