About the Role
The planner will work on dry‑lab environments such as bench labs, clean rooms, data halls, and SCIFs, and will support facilities for semiconductor testing, advanced manufacturing, GPU rack testing, and robotics development. While expertise in every lab type is not required, the candidate must be eager to learn and grow within the team, bringing strong programming and spatial planning skills to balance technical, operational, and spatial constraints. Key responsibilities include collaborating with clients, researchers, and internal teams to create comprehensive laboratory planning strategies for new construction and renovations, delivering sustainability‑focused design solutions, and overseeing technical documentation, quality‑control reviews, and production of drawings that meet Gensler standards. The role also involves day‑to‑day project and client management, development of standard materials for the Advanced Tech portfolio, and leading relationships with contractors, agencies, and specialty consultants. • Develop lab planning strategies for new builds and renovations, integrating sustainability and technical requirements. • Produce and review construction documents, elevations, and details in accordance with Gensler QA/QC standards. • Manage project lifecycles from concept through construction, coordinating with clients, contractors, engineers, and specialty consultants. • Lead and mentor junior designers, fostering growth in R&D lab design expertise. • Collaborate with global Gensler teams to deliver flexible, high‑performance interior solutions for Silicon Valley clients.

This interior‑architecture role requires at least ten years of experience planning complex research and development spaces, with an architectural license preferred but not mandatory. The position supports Silicon Valley clients developing hardware for the artificial‑intelligence sector. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with ten or more years of relevant experience; licensure, LEED accreditation, and Revit proficiency are preferred. Required knowledge spans laboratory programming, MEP systems, casework, and how design influences equipment and operational workflows. Strong leadership, presentation, and mentorship abilities are essential, as is a commitment to sustainable and resilient design demonstrated through past project work. • Require 10+ years of architectural or related experience; Bachelor’s in Architecture; licensure and LEED accreditation preferred. • Proficient in Revit and knowledgeable about laboratory programming, MEP systems, and equipment integration. • Strong presentation, leadership, and stakeholder communication skills.

Compensation is estimated at $110,000‑$170,000 base salary, plus bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, contingent on experience.
