About the Role
The apprentice will measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, safely operate hand and power tools after training, and lift, position, and fasten objects. They will also prepare and supply materials and tools, keep the work area clean and organized, work under close supervision following standard procedures, build relationships with diverse team members, and pull DC and MV wire along with other assigned duties. • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using hand tools. • Safely operate hand and power tools (drills, crimpers, cutters, etc.) after training. • Lift, position, and fasten objects. • Prepare, handle, and supply materials and tools for electrical trades. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment. • Work under immediate supervision following standard instructions and procedures. • Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Pull DC and MV wire and perform other assigned duties.

Mortenson is seeking an Electrical Apprentice I to assist with utility‑scale projects, ensuring safety and compliance with electrical regulations while training under a journey‑level electrician. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining energy equipment. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, some construction or electrical experience, and a current driver’s license. They need the ability to read safety regulations and blueprints, operate hand and power tools, follow instructions, work safely with electrical equipment, and possess knowledge of electrical systems. Physical requirements include handling materials up to 200 lb, lifting up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads), and frequent crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and working in heat or varied weather conditions. Strong teamwork, a positive attitude, professional customer service, active listening, and effective communication are also required. • High school diploma or GED. • Some construction and/or electrical experience. • Current driver’s license. • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, blueprints, etc. • Ability to work with power and non-powered hand tools. • Willingness to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions. • Ability to work safely with electrical equipment. • Knowledge of electrical systems. • Ability to handle materials weighing up to 200 lb. • Strong teamwork orientation. • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills. • Active listening and effective communication skills. • Ability to work frequently in heat and various weather conditions. • Physical ability to frequently crouch, kneel, squat, climb; repetitive hand, arm, leg movement. • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lb (with assistance for loads over 50 lb).

Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $26.39–$52.79 per hour, determined by knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Visa sponsorship is not offered, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Job postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, with an average duration of 44 days.
