FY27 Research Intern 21 GAD
Develop AI agents for an autonomous simulation workflow in Autodesk Research.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The role focuses on building an end‑to‑end simulation assistant, called the sim‑agent, that guides users through all steps of simulation design. The sim‑agent should operate largely autonomously while allowing user verification and requirement definition. Key duties include designing and improving various types of agents—vision‑language, large‑language, machine‑learning, and rule‑based—coding them in Python, integrating simulation tools, and rigorously testing and documenting the workflow. • Develop VLM, LLM, ML, and rule‑based agents for simulation workflows. • Implement and improve agents using Python and integrate simulation tools. • Test, validate, and document agent performance, potentially for publication. • Participate in a paid 12‑week (US) or 16‑week (Canada) internship with mentorship and tech talks.
Key Responsibilities
- ▸agent development
- ▸python coding
- ▸tool integration
- ▸performance testing
- ▸workflow documentation
- ▸simulation assistant
What You Bring
Candidates must be enrolled full‑time in a PhD or Master’s program, have mechanical engineering background with simulation and risk‑assessment experience, and possess strong Python skills. Experience with AI agents, LLMs, VLMs (QWEN a plus), ML frameworks, and MCP servers is required; familiarity with SolidWorks, ANSYS, Fusion, or finite‑element methods is advantageous. • Pursue a PhD or Master's degree with mechanical engineering and simulation experience. • Experience with AI agents, LLMs, VLMs (QWEN a plus), and ML (geometric deep learning, GNNs). • Proficient in Python and familiar with MCP servers. • Knowledge of simulation software (SolidWorks, ANSYS, Fusion) and FEM is a plus.
