About the Role

The Handyman – 1st Shift supports the operation of commercial properties by performing troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment. The role serves assigned facilities and ensures reliable functionality of all assets. • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and systems, including packaging machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop and grounds equipment, and HVAC. • Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices. • Install and modify building equipment and systems. • Replace and repair finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and paint walls, piping, floors, and equipment. • Evaluate maintenance operations and recommend upgrades or cost‑saving opportunities. • Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests. • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventative maintenance. • Maintain and operate fire and life‑safety systems, including fire alarms and pumps. • Perform carpentry work and snow removal as needed. • Follow all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives while practicing safe work habits. • Utilize technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, web‑based applications, and building automation systems. • Adhere to C&W uniform dress code and maintain a neat appearance on and off duty.

What You Bring

The position works in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Physical demands include regular movement, occasional standing for 10 % of the time, and the ability to extend hands and arms in any direction while performing maintenance tasks. Applicants are expected to possess relevant technical training, a valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills, and must be able to work extended or on‑call shifts when required. • Demonstrate competent knowledge of tools and equipment for facility and ground maintenance. • Complete required C&W safety training annually. • Technical proficiency. • Multi‑tasking. • Sense of urgency. • High school diploma or GED equivalent. • Minimum two years of related experience in a commercial property setting. • Technical or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or related fields. • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; commercial license may be required. • Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word. • Ability to work extended periods, overtime, shift work, or on‑call duties when needed.

Benefits

Compensation ranges from $22.36 to $26.31 CAD hourly, with pay determined by factors such as collective bargaining status, geographic location, market rates, and candidate experience.
