About the Role
The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations to transfer, spread, cover, load, and compact waste or soil efficiently and safely. Key duties include performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, operating machinery such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front‑end loaders following safety standards, continuously monitoring waste for unacceptable materials, and keeping equipment ready by cleaning tracks or wheels as needed. The role also involves performing minor service tasks, documenting equipment condition, reporting needed repairs, following all safety policies, maintaining a clean shop at shift end, and completing any additional job‑related duties assigned.
