Senior Level Capital Projects Engineers apply extensive technical expertise, serving as staff advisors and consultants on complex assignments that develop new or improved techniques, procedures, and equipment. They act as the primary technical contact on contracts and projects, coordinating with senior external personnel and exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives. In this senior role, engineers lead moderate to large projects through phases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning. Responsibilities include developing technical documentation, providing field engineering oversight, managing bid and evaluation processes, mentoring less‑experienced staff, and overseeing budgeting, estimating, and work‑order management. Principal Level Capital Projects Engineers act as the organization’s subject‑matter experts, applying advanced theories and innovative research to major or multiple complex projects. They advise management and customers on technical studies, develop new principles and standards, and lead strategic initiatives with long‑term business impact. Principal engineers are responsible for self‑initiated, self‑directed assignments that include conception, research, design, equipment specification, installation, start‑up, and commissioning. They manage bid and evaluation processes, mentor engineering teams, and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and accounting activities to support current and future projects. • Lead moderate to large capital projects from research through commissioning. • Serve as primary technical advisor and liaison with senior external personnel. • Develop and improve engineering techniques, procedures, and standards. • Provide field engineering oversight, testing, installation, and inspections. • Manage bid preparation, technical evaluations, and recommendation processes. • Mentor and guide less‑experienced engineers, technicians, and staff. • Oversee budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and work‑order management for projects. • Maintain Professional Engineer (PE) registration for principal level (or equivalent experience).

What You Bring
Minimum requirements for the senior position include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, 5+ years of relevant experience with an EIT/FE certification (or 7+ years without), and the ability to demonstrate core technical competencies. A Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred depending on business needs. For the principal role, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) and possess 9+ years of relevant experience with a PE registration, or 15+ years without a PE. Demonstrated mastery of unique technical skills and core competencies is essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) and relevant experience (5+ years for senior, 9+ years for principal).
