About the Role

The Field Service Engineer – Winding joins this team to provide on‑site electrical and winding repair services for a wide range of equipment, including generators and motors. The role involves traveling worldwide to customer sites, collaborating with mechanical service engineers, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of high‑voltage equipment. • Perform winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on generator HV windings at global customer sites. • Conduct basic mechanical strip‑down and rebuild of machines to access windings, including stator re‑wedge work. • Execute visual inspections of stator, rotor and excitation systems and carry out in‑situ generator winding repairs. • Participate in on‑site stator strip and rewind operations as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Assist mechanical service engineers on assignments, providing support beyond winding activities. • Supervise and train internal and external customers on winding procedures and safety practices. • Interpret technical drawings, specifications and requirements; prepare method statements and concise reports for customers. • Attend technical meetings on‑site and at customer premises, and conduct on‑site risk assessments for each assignment. • Utilize hand tools, multimeters, meg‑gers, rigging equipment, generator‑specific tooling, and HIPot for testing and repairs. • Apply high‑voltage tests such as PI, DC leakage and HIPot on generators, including 2‑pole and 4‑pole configurations. • Operate robotic test systems (RoGIS, MAGIC, MAGIC Jr.) for rotor and stator assessments. • Participate in the company‑sponsored Thrift Plan (401k) and eligible for performance bonuses.

What You Bring

Successful candidates hold a technical degree and at least three years of field‑service experience, are proficient with specialized tooling and high‑voltage testing, and are comfortable with frequent domestic and international travel. They must also be able to assess risks, interpret technical drawings, and communicate results effectively. • Travel frequently (75–85% of time) domestically and internationally, often on short notice. • Hold a technical degree from an accredited institution and at least three years of field‑service experience. • Demonstrate competence with tooling, generator cooling types (air, hydrogen, liquid), and high‑voltage testing procedures.
