About the Role
The Maintenance Technician B works under the direction of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager to repair and maintain diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. Duties include work on chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. Employees enjoy working on a single fleet of state‑of‑the‑art vehicles, receive training on new technologies, and have a stable regular shift. Technicians must maintain a working knowledge of vehicle components and perform preventive and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities cover chassis repair, refuse body systems, engine maintenance, suspension, drivetrain, steering, HVAC, and line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. Road service is provided safely to return equipment to operation, and electronic tools are used to identify malfunctions. Additional duties are assigned as needed and training programs are completed. • Repair chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and steering components. • Service refuse bodies, including hydraulic, electrical, and air‑brake systems. • Perform engine diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance. • Conduct HVAC and climate‑control maintenance. • Execute line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. • Provide road service to restore equipment safely. • Diagnose malfunctions using electronic diagnostic tools. • Complete required company training programs. • Perform basic tire replacement, rotation, and tread checks. • Utilize health‑care spending accounts, disability, and life insurance plans. • Participate in employee assistance and discount programs.

What You Bring
Candidates should understand work‑order labor time standards and have experience with light/medium‑duty (Classes 1‑5) and heavy‑duty (Classes 7‑8) trucks, aircraft, or ships. ASE certifications and a commercial driver’s license are advantageous but not required; a valid driver’s license is required. A minimum of one year of technician experience with gasoline and diesel equipment or graduation from an accredited automotive program within three months is required. Ability to perform basic inspections of suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions is expected.
