About the Role
The role involves studying blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine material requirements and dimensions; performing concrete and rough carpentry such as hand‑setting walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural decks, slabs, columns, and drywall; setting door frames, hanging doors, and installing hardware; and completing finish‑carpentry tasks including toilet accessories, handrails, corner guards, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, and running trim. The carpenter will also build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels and perform any other duties as assigned. • Interpret blueprints and building plans to determine material needs. • Perform concrete and rough carpentry, including walls, footings, forms, decks, slabs, columns, and drywall. • Install door frames, hang doors, and fit hardware. • Execute finish carpentry such as trim, handrails, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, and coffered ceilings. • Collaborate with diverse team members across organizational levels. • Operate table saws, radial arm saws, sanders, drill presses, and fall protection equipment.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Journeyman to provide skilled craftsmanship for the installation of formwork, finish carpentry, and drywall. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, complete an apprenticeship program, and possess union‑specific training. They must be able to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt and disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection gear, rigging, and form systems. Strong teamwork orientation, a positive attitude, professional customer‑service skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are required. The job requires repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lb; loads over 50 lb must be handled with assistance or equipment. • Meet qualifications: high school diploma/GED, completed apprenticeship, union training. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills. • Handle repetitive motions and lift up to 50 lb; heavier loads require assistance.
