About the Role

The Senior Project Manager role will lead complex workstreams on major infrastructure projects in South East England within the Environment and Water Portfolio, delivering above‑ground and below‑ground water and wastewater construction projects for clients such as Thames Water and Southern Water. The role involves delivering commission obligations and internal project performance, building senior client relationships, establishing effective communications, leading problem‑solving and decision‑making, managing teams and resources, and controlling commercial aspects across various contract arrangements. The business unit Advisory and Programme Delivery provides management services across built environment sectors, handling projects up to £20 bn and delivering programme, project, cost, and digital consulting services, especially for regulated water and wastewater clients. • Deliver commission obligations and internal project performance. • Build and manage strong relationships with senior client representatives. • Establish effective communications across project delivery, client, and stakeholder teams. • Lead problem solving and decision making. • Provide team leadership, resource planning and management. • Control internal and external commercial aspects of projects across various contractual arrangements. • Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, business managers and other units.

What You Bring

• Hold an engineering and/or project management degree or equivalent experience. • Be a member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM). • Possess APM PMQ qualification or equivalent (e.g., Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 Practitioner). • Demonstrate substantial project management expertise and experience leading project teams to successful outcomes. • Have experience managing projects within the Water and Environment sector. • Exhibit strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills. • Show high commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls. • Ability to motivate, inspire and develop high‑performing teams (preferred). • Ability to create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment (preferred). • Strong focus on health and wellbeing (preferred). • Broad experience in the public sector environment (preferred). • Significant experience administering a wide range of contracts (preferred). • Demonstrated collaborative behaviours and strong interpersonal skills (preferred). • Proven leadership skills with adaptable leadership style (preferred).
